During our stay in Key West we were looking around for a Chinese Restaurant. So we discovered Hong Kong Restaurant which was a Chinese & Japanese Style Restaurant. This place is pretty good and the prices on the menu was not that expensive. The item that, I liked the most that was on the menu was the sweet sour and pork. The Restaurant Staff was very friendly with us.

Between China Garden in Searstown, Tongs on Kennedy Dr, and Hong Kong in Overseas Market Shopping Center, Hong Kong is the best of the 3 on this side of the island. All three restaurants have their specialty items that stands out from the rest. China Garden has great egg rolls, their sweet and sour sauce is awesome, as well as their duck sauce. If you are a boneless spare ribs kind of person, Tongs is the place to go, Hong Kong boneless spare ribs taste horrible. Hong Kong has good tasty sushi, especially the American Dream, yum. The Crab Rangoon are also amazing at Hong Kong. They do have a pretty descent lunch special that will fill you up for a very good price. The service is pretty good, the family that runs the place are very nice. Hong Kong is a good location for take out. You could walk in to order, then go pick out a movie at FYE, pick up medicine at CVS, last minute shopping at Winn Dixie, etc. If you called ahead of time, they will call your ass to see where you are at if you are late, its kind of funny. Sometimes when calling to place an order they let their young son answer the phone, he usually get the orders wrong. Overall, if you are a Chinese food kind of person, Hong Kong is a great choice in new town.

The two of us had worked all day and it was almost 9pm so we called for delivery. Food came quickly. BBQ Pork Spareribs, Special Fried Rice (with lobster), Mongolian Beef and Szechuan vegetables. Sounds yummy huh? $40 by credit card. Well at least we can have the leftovers for lunch we thought. The spareribs were tolerable only when dunked in hot mustard. Everything else was kind of dark and limp. Mongolian beef was disgusting. We picked through and ate just to fill the void. Good news is that it didn't make us sick. It looked like it might. We put the leftovers down the garbage disposal.

Im giving it a 5, not because its a blow you out of the water place but because as far as Chinese food on the island goes I think its the best. Its not as cheap as the $9 buffets in the Carolinas and the food isnt as tasty as the places in NY I grew up with but we have been here for two years and its our favorite Chinese place. You can order online and skip having to call and food is usually at my door within 20mins with delivery being free. Portions are big and the combination dinner is always enough for two meals. I think the negative reviews arent being realistic for Key West being an isolated expensive little island and people having their expectations too high. All in all they are open to 1030 and the food is good for the price.

Just over priced chinese, nothing great here. 50.00 for a couple sushi rolls and 1 meal. The place delivered to the Navy base which was a plus, the food was not flavored very good and the portions were small for chinese, normally they pack rice into the little containers, the fried rice was fluffed and very light in the pint container, If you plan on sharing this you might want to get more than your family normally needs.

My hubby and I were visiting in July of 2010 and were driving North to Boca Chica when we saw this in a shopping center. We had some seafood dishes and they were not too expensive. They may not be doing rocket science here, but it is solid Chinese food. The staff brought lots of ice water (which was a blessing, because it was summer in Key West!) While it may lack some zing, I say give it a try. Also, no MSG headache afterwards! xoxo

That five star review is very misleading, I guarantee it's not that good. But it's a solid showing for cheap chinese food, in quantity, and a decent price. I've been enjoying Hong Kong restaurant for years, and the fried rice is good, the beef with snow peas is good... but you have to blot your egg rolls. The sushi is alright. I wouldn't write letters to dear ol' mom about it. Geese H. is right on when saying that there is a bit of disappointment ... when faced with thinking you're getting a five-star meal at a two star price, I totally see that. Would I recommend Hong Kong? Sure. If you're looking for a lot of cheap chinese chow? Hell yeah. If you're looking for something more authentic... I'd keep looking.

So a couple things. 1. This is the worst Chinese in Key West, hands down. 2. They advertise Hunan, and Szechwan. Both Crap 3. Imagine high fructose corn syrup jello slop covering everything you ordered. 4. social retards, terrible service, and freakishly fast. i mean that in a bad way. 5. ruined my day and it looks like it screwed a few others too. do not go here, it blows, and if your desperate go to subway.

Holy Mercy. One thing that is true in this life - All Chinese restaurants are NOT created equal; not at all. I saw the other review on here. I decided - OK. Safe bet. The guy is from California too and I hear they have Amazing Chinese restaurants so 5 stars is probably going to be very good. I can't wait... And now I'm very disappointed that I went. The first thing that I promise is not affecting the rating is this: I am starting to think there is No such animal as Almond Boneless Chicken on this island! WHAT!? How can that Be!? I was excited to have my "Chinese" comfort food of choice but this is the second restaurant I checked. Never heard of it. That is just WEIRD to me. Secondly I ordered my food and since they were dead I decided to eat at a table. There was one other table eating in there. I saw a bowl of those rice chips sitting in front of them but when I got to my table... Nope. They didn't bring me any. After I sat down the food I ordered came out very fast - too fast. What I mean by too fast is, to me, I think that the chicken friend rice was prepared in a big batch at the beginning of the day and that's what I got for my $5 (pint) order. It tasted like that; like it had been sitting in a big bin all day long and all they did is scoop some onto a plate and serve it to me. So I got that and also the menu choice that I decided on which was the Royal something or other. Here's my logic. It said it had chicken, lobster, scallops, and shrimp with some vegetables. I'm thinking, Wow that will probably be great in a 5 star Chinese restaurant On an island where the seafood would have to be AMAZING!! Well.... Nooooo. First of all let's talk about the fact that someone should really enforce a restaurant accountability standard that suggests that IF you put the words CRAB or LOBSTER on a menu that THAT is what you get. If I wanted to slice up some imitation crab meat and cook it with some rice and gravy I would do that for way cheaper at home. The standard should also suggest that to at the very least spell imitation crab/lobster meat as Krab or specify that it is imitation to avoid disappointing customers who are imagining a place coming out of the kitchen with fluffy, savory lobster chunks in their food. Also there is the issue of what I thought were water chesnuts until I tried them and discovered to my dismay that they were the scallops. I don't think I've ever seen or tasted a water chesnut sized scallop in my life until today. Do they even have some a thing!? I have had scallops of all shapes and sizes and as far as I'm concerned the Only way someone would have something like this in their dish is if they were in the kitchen Slicing the Scallops into thin slices. That's just sad. So I have those 2 items, but I don't have the rice chips I wanted and I don't see any white rice. Here's my personal experience with Chinese restaurants: The ones that are Nice automatically bring you white rice with ANYTHING - even better they will bring you an eggroll and some eggdrop soup. They don't even charge more. The more ghetto Chinese places think that when you get fried rice you shouldn't get white rice so they don't bring it. So I had to ask for both the white rice and the rice chips. "Oh... Oh ya..." the guy working there said as if he "Forgot" to bring that stuff out in the first place. So I ate my very bland food and tried spicing it up a little with some hot pepper they had at the table which was not bad. But it only helped so much... The rice chips were definitely below par so I tried 2 things, first the hot mustard. My favorite Chinese restaurant ever I would dip the rice chips in hot mustard and a little soy!!! YUM-E! Here the hot mustard tasted like Dijon mustard and the soy sauce made the rice chips worse. I could go on and on like this, but the moral of the story - Maybe I have been spoiled by having some exceptional Chinese food in my lifetime, but this is Not even close to that kind of experience. I Certainly hope Key West has better Chinese food to offer or I am gonna have to find another international comfort food. Yikes!

I travel ALOT, & being in the food , hospitality industry, I take reviewing seriously. So here you go! We love our Chinese "comfort food" nothing worse than looking for comfort & being disappointed . Not here,!! after reading some of the reviews we were hesitant, but for the price choices etc, & right down the street, free delivery etc, went for it., . Soo glad we did!! Were told less than 30 , here in 20! It was piping hot & FYI!!!! If it's made fresh u get it in 15 OR less. obv longer for del. Sorry Ron that your food came out so fast, & was fluffy rice, again that means fresh. I agree the wonton strips that go in your soup or for snacking were stale, we have a microwave , so zapped them ( can do w/ stale tortilla chips also) & were good as new.! Every place we've been u have to ask for them, sorry u didn't get your "rice crackers" Anyway.. Sesame chix was all white meat w/ broccoli , the Cut of the meat is usually reserved for dark meat, NOT HERE.! Also , the" Happy Family" combo of pork, chix ( again, white meat), shrimp, & beef with veggies, in brown sauce ahhh both sooo good!! Veggies all fresh. Wonton soup, flavor great , wontons just a bit thick, for me), egg rolls tasted great , just needed a bit more cooking, Other than that , cheer up order lady, /hostess & keep smiling delivery guy! Thanks for listening, sincerely "For Real"

The interior isn't very fancy, you can easily tell that the restaurant is kinda old. There are 2 different menus; one is for Americans and offers the classic Americanized Chinese foods that you'd get at a take out restaurant while the other menu if written in Mandarin Chinese and if for the Chinese people, it offers authentic Chinese foods and flavors. However, regardless of which menu you order off of the food is hot and fresh and taste good. The waitresses were friendly and food was fast to arrive onto the table. This restaurant can serve as a take-out or eat-in. I would rate it 31\2 stars but there's not that option.

The restaurant is not fancy but it is nice and comfortable. Great service and nice workers there. I had roast duck and my husband had very fresh and crispy sweet @ sour pork. I guess they make their special duck and sweet and sour pork there because I never had the same pork or duck in other Chinese restaurant. We had lunch there before we left Key west. The amount of the food is like dinner size and they only cost $6 to $7 including fried rice and egg roll. strongly recommend.

It is what it is: cheap Chinese. For prices on par with mainland Panda Express, you get more generous portions and a tad more grease. Great for hangovers and veg days as they do deliver (even on the military base/annexes). Which is good enough for me. A couple of tips: The orange chicken is sweeter than at most places. The beef with veggies entree is better than most places. The portions are generous ($8 delivery minimum (:) Egg drop soup is nice and brothy.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Lunch is cheap and good. Service is excellent. Free wifi ! Not fancy, but clean. Compares favorably with similar places in NYC.
